Volume button in movie theaters

Install volume control buttons on each movie theater seats. Run continuous checks on button presses. For example, if the majority of viewers are pressing the volume-up button, then the volume increases.

Congressional Assembly As a Service:

Consultants visit countries who are eager to form a democracy, and write their constitutions for them. Along with consultations on implementation.

The Future of History:

As the base human population grows, the number of historians will also grow according to ratio. As the human population grows at an accelerated speed over a short period of time, the number of historians will also grow at the same fast rate.

At one point, not enough recent history would have been created for the new historians to cover without extreme overlap of academia. Simply put, if the number of historians double in the next ten years, then a large number of historians would be studying the exact same period of history using the exact same methods.

Solution: Time-Traveling Historians

At a further point, it is advisable for historian associations around the world to send historians into the distant future, on a permanent basis, to cover the past. The past, of course, would be much longer in the distant future, and since the future history would already be covered by historians sent from the past, very few new historians would be created, securing occupations for existing historians.

Toilet paper-based ad service

This one is real. I tried to enhance the idea.

In order to withdraw the toilet paper after business has been taken care of, the user must take out their phone, scan the QR code on the dispenser, watch an ad linked by the QR code (perhaps even play a fun little mini-game). Only then, will the toilet paper be mechanically dispensed.

This user experience could be further enhanced by installing the system on the paper-towel dispenser or hand-dryer as well. In order to dry their hands after washing, the user would need to reach into their pocket, activate their phones once again, and scan the QR code, all done expertly with wet hands. The ad they watch will further add value to their lives and enrich their consumption choices.

OAEC

Organization of the Anime Exporting Countries — an OPEC-style structure for standardized anime quality assurance.

This supranational structure would enable coordination between studios and streaming services. Presumably, member states would include Japan, China, Korea, India, and US — countries with more than a hundred animation studios.

Benefits of the coordination includes:

  1. Flexible release schedules with episodic price.
  2. Creative freedom.
  3. Stream-medium freedom, meaning shows aren’t limited to 12 episodes.
  4. Global copyright law enforcement, more effective in this case as the copyright is not enforced by governments, but by all content creators and providers.
  5. Oligarchy. Much to the frustration of Crunchyroll and Funimation, an AT&T-Comcast style oligarchy just isn’t possible right now. Just as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and HBO etc. cannot form an oligarchy, the anime streaming industry is even less profitable and organized. This is because, not only do anime streaming services have far less content to offer than their live-action counterparts, they do not control any of the content which they are providing. While OAEC would enable an oligarchy to form via increased organization, it will be a fun oligarchy! Anime quality would increase due to more dedicated budgets, while streaming service subscription costs would decrease due to a lack of licensing cost.
  6. Better anime conventions. Currently, all convention organizers need to reach out to studios and streaming platforms individually for setting up booth and patronage. An increased collaboration would ease the process.

I saw this picture At first glance, I thought this picture could be the best I’ve seen all year. The message the picture portrays is pretty clear: ignorance is bliss. Man’s wearing a MAGA hat while using his anti-pandemic face mask as an... Continue →
